Wow am I ever tired!!

It has been a hell of ride these past days. I have been working so hard due to the weirdness of the schedule, the severity of the work, and the amount of breakdowns I have had.

Two weeks ago I pulled a very long run, then got home early since I worked so damn hard to get there. I pulled in to the yard, was going to park the truck and it dies right there in front of me. I was not happy. It took four hours to get it to the shop and an entire weekend to fix. It was well below zero outside and I was just frozen solid. I got lucky in the fact that I have such a great manager here at the local terminal. She came right out to help, and even brought me coffee.

We had a nice weekend, followed by another long week at work. I was pretty damn tired with three long runs in a row. On the way home Friday they give me the news that I have a shorter week next week, but I have to leave out on Monday. That means that I get home 8am Saturday morning, and leave just about the same time Monday. I have to sleep most of Saturday away since I drove all night to get home... its a one day weekend.

So I managed to rest as much as I can this weekend, and I am on my way out the door here very shortly and start another week on the road. Hopefully I will be home Thursday night, and have a nice relaxing weekend.

Be well everyone!

Been Busy

Hay everyone!

I am alive. I have been so damn busy this last few days with everything going on that I have not really had time to post. I will catch up later as the week ends, but for now, I just wanted to say that I am thinking of everyone and I am doing fine.

Take care.. be back as soon as things get back to "normal".

Time to rest...

It has been a great week so far. I made my delivery over 1300 miles in 2 days! That's not a record for me, but it is a good haul for just getting over the cold from hell. I am feeling a lot better than I was last week at this time, but I still have a way to go before I kick this awful cold. It is still hanging on but I think I have it on the run.

Got back to the yard and my load was sitting there ready and waiting for me. I love that! It makes my life so much nicer not having to switch my sleeping schedule, and not having to wait for 10 or more hours to head back home. I left right away and made it up to Wytheville VA with time to spare. I would have kept going but I was about 30 min short of making it to the next god parking stop for the night. It is pretty awful that I now know every single place to park and fuel on this entire interstate. I have driven every single mile of it twice a week for 3 years now, I guess I should know it well.

I got in here just in time for the storm that was coming to hit full force. It dropped a bunch of snow, and the wind is blowing so hard that the truck is rocking back and forth like a baby's cradle. I am sure that will help me sleep well tonight.

I will most likely get home tomorrow evening just after suppertime. A nice hot shower and a good nights sleep will be in order. I know the weather tomorrow is not going to be a lot of fun and the drive is 10 hours easily. Should make for a long day.

No set plans for the weekend other than maybe seeing my friend John on Friday, and an oil change for the car. Hope everyone out there is doing well. I'm off to bed.

Rain or Shine....

Snow or cold, it is that time again. Looks like I have a wine load this week. Those are usually good for long miles and heavy weight. The perfect thing I need to stay safe on these winter drives.

This weekend was uneventful other than the suffering of the cold of doom. I started out with it, my mother and wife both got it nearly at the same time, while I was recovering. I was more like the "scouting party" for this cold, giving updates on what to expect on which day of the cold.

We all rested here for the entire weekend. Dad did his best to avoid us. He is such a germaphobe, but I doubt it did any good to be honest. I hope he avoids it, but common sense says that is just not happening. My daughter also seems to feel she is somehow "immune" to this terrible cold. I hope she is right! If she is not... well she will be a suffering little kid for 4 or 5 days while she gets through it.

Everything else is status quo here. I messed around with a zombie blog this weekend with a friend of mine from the city. We created quite the collection of zombie related things on line, but we decided that since some of it was a little over the top, we were going to keep that collection to ourselves and make it a password protected, so, sorry... no links right now. We may change that later, and if we do I will share all my gory zombie things with you all.

No music this weekend since the first day I was feeling well enough to play was Sunday. My poor wife spent most of the day in bed, so I spent my time being quiet, playing some video games with my daughter, messing about on the web, and taking care of the sick wife.

Well I am off~! I will update when I can! Take care!

Sick in bed...

Very brief post here.

Monday was a great day. I went out, got my load, started south, got 2 hours down the road and needed a nap...

That should have been a sign right there....

I took that nap, got up, made the rest of the way down to my first stopping point for the night. I went right to bed, I was very tired.

I woke up feeling like I had been beaten with a bag of hammers. My cold went from zero to turbo in one night. I am a bit disturbed by the ferocity of this sickness but the good news today (Friday) is that I am seeming to turn the corner.

I managed to make it through the week, drive 2000 miles sick as a dog, and get home in one piece. I am "on the Q's" as we say here in the family (taking both DayQuil and NyQuil) to stay semi-functional.

I am going to go have more coffee now and do a jigsaw puzzle with my daughter who is also suffering the cold. Love you all, happy new year to everyone, and talk to you when I am feeling better.
